About Eric

I have built my career on stability, trust, and follow-through. For over 30 years, I’ve worked with the same company, moving from entry-level roles to management and into technical business development. Along the way, I’ve worked with people from all walks of life, building long-term relationships based on honesty, problem-solving, creating value, and doing what I say I will do.

My family and I have called Coaldale home since 2017, drawn by its small-town character, sense of safety, and strong community spirit — the very things that make this a great place to live. Outside my day job, I volunteer as a traditional martial arts instructor here in Coaldale, working alongside a dedicated team of instructors. Teaching both children and adults has shown me how confidence, connection, and respect are built — qualities that are just as important in community leadership as they are in daily life.

I believe that Coaldale is on the cusp of significant growth, with our population soon to surpass 10,000. With that milestone comes both opportunity and responsibility. Our community has been well served by good people, and I want to build on that foundation by listening to residents, treating taxpayer dollars with fairness and prudence, and making timely, evidence-based decisions. I believe we must also continue to address the everyday quality-of-life issues that matter most to residents, ensuring that as we grow, Coaldale remains safe, livable, and welcoming.

Above all, I am committed to honest, hardworking leadership that keeps residents’ needs at the forefront and ensures fiscal responsibility, safety, and community values remain top priorities as we prepare for the future.

A few things I care about

Respect For Taxpayer Dollars

With over 30 years in private industry, I’ve always treated both company and client money with the utmost respect — spending carefully and being fair. That same principle should guide Council: taxpayer dollars must be handled wisely, with residents and businesses receiving the best possible value and return on investment in our community.

Address CPKC Train Whistles

When I speak with residents, one of the concerns I hear most often are the repetitive train whistles through town. It’s a quality of life issue that affects nearly everyone, and addressing it would be a long term benefit to the community. Other towns have worked with Transport Canada and the rail companies to find safe solutions, and Coaldale should do the same - while carefully reviewing the costs to make sure they are responsible but ultimately lead to a more livable community. To be clear, I am not stating we should impede trains going through Coaldale, only address the whistles. Trains are vital!

Support Valuable Community Services

A growing town needs strong community services that keep pace with residents’ needs. Emergency Services are essential to keeping Coaldale safe and secure, while resources like the library provide programs, events, and learning opportunities for all ages. Together, these services ensure our community is supported, enriched, and protected.

Reducing Unnecessary Noise

Coaldale has a bylaw that prohibits the use of engine retarder brakes within town limits, yet the regulation is often ignored, leaving residents to deal with unnecessary noise. As our community grows, it’s important that this bylaw has real meaning. That means working with enforcement to improve compliance, increasing driver awareness, and making it easy for residents to share concerns. The goal isn’t to punish drivers, but to protect the quality of life that makes Coaldale a great place to live.
